Washroom brake on long run?

Washroom brake on long run?

Admin1 September 2026

Coaching corner for long distance runners.

Ever suffered a “dramatic” stomach upset mid run and had to look for a toilet.

This is how you prepare to avoid that… Follow these Easy 6 Ways to Prevent Digestive Issues During Runs..!!!!

1. Don’t eat too close to running Give your body 2–3 hours after a big meal.

2. Keep pre-run food simple Choose easy-to-digest carbs like bananas, toast, rice or oats.

3. Reduce fat & fibre before running They digest slowly and can upset your stomach.

4. Hydrate, but don’t overdrink Sip water throughout the day instead of drinking a lot right before running.

5. Practice your gels Test your gels and fueling strategy during training, not on race day.

6. Start easier Running too hard, especially early, can trigger stomach problems. Let your body settle into the run.
