By Coach Paul & Trek sports and adventures
About This Event
Simulation Run In running, a simulation run is a training session designed to reproduce key conditions of an upcoming race as closely as practical. Objectives š Race-distance or partial-distance effort ā e.g. 25ā35 km rather than the full marathon. ā±ļø Target race pace ā practicing the pace you intend to hold on race day. š„¤ Race nutrition and hydration ā using the same gels, drinks and timing you expect to use. š Race-day shoes and kit ā testing the equipment before the actual race. š Similar start time ā especially useful for heat and morning conditions. š£ļø Similar terrain ā tarmac, hills, trails, etc. š§ Race strategy ā practicing pacing, overtaking, group running and finishing strongly. If you're preparing for a marathon, a simulation run could be: 30 km First 10 km: easy/controlled Next 15 km: marathon goal pace Final 5 km: maintain pace or slightly increase effort Use exactly the hydration and nutrition planned for race day. It isn't necessarily about running the whole marathon at race pace. The purpose is to rehearse the race and test whether your training, pacing, nutrition and equipment work together.
